Q: Is pre-ordering the latest crime books worth it?
A: If you’re the type of reader who always has a book waiting by the sofa, then pre-ordering is a great way to keep that reading habit going. It takes away the need to keep checking when a favourite author’s next release is coming out and means your next crime fix is already sorted before it even hits the shelves. In addition, it helps the publishers estimate demand, and it assists independent bookshops in ordering the right amount of books.

Q: What makes a crime book impossible to put down?
A: That’s the mystery every author tries to solve! For many readers, it’s a combination of unforgettable characters, clever plotting and that one question that keeps you saying, “just one more chapter.”

Q: Will these books arrive on release day?
A: We always aim to get pre-ordered books to readers as quickly as possible once they are released. Release dates are set by publishers, so occasionally timings can change, but we’ll keep everything moving so you can get stuck into your next mystery as soon as possible. Some books may even arrive earlier than the publication date!

Q: How do you choose which books make it into the collection?
A: The Gumshoe Books catalogue is curated. We are big fans of crime novels ourselves and choose books that we think crime readers will genuinely enjoy, from exciting debuts to highly anticipated releases from authors who continue to keep readers turning pages late into the night.
