We currently ship to the following countries:

If you are in another country and desperate for a book, please get in touch, and we will quote accurate shipping cost.

All orders are shipped from the UK, and for international shipments, all import duties, tariffs and taxes are the responsibility of the recipient. 

Shipments to the US are delivered duty paid.

Shipments to the EU will incur local VAT payable on import.

Please refer to the Shipping page for up-to-date delivery cost.

We aim to ship most books within 24 hours of receiving your order, unless a longer delay is specifically noted on the product page, for example for not-yet-published titles, or out-of-stock titles.

UK: Transit times are up to 4 business days.

EU: Transit times are up to 10 business days.

USA: Transit times are generally between 3 and 7 days, but can be up to 14 business days.

Orders for multiple books will be dispatched when all books are in stock, unless there is an undue delay. In that case we may decide to make multiple dispatches at no additional cost to you.

Books that are not yet published at the time of ordering ("pre-orders") will be dispatched upon publication. Your card will be charged at the time you place the order.

Yes, it is possible to come and browse, chat about books and have a cup of tea on us.

The best times to visit in person are Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

We are based on the Industrial Estate in Totnes, not far from the train station. Please note, there is very limited parking and the office is on the first floor with stairs.

We do not currently sell ebooks, and it is not likely that we will in the future.

We do recommend checking your local public library for access to ebooks.

We do not currently sell audiobooks.

We do not buy or sell used books at this time.

Self-published authors are invited to get in touch by email to see if their books can be added to Gumshoe Books on a consignment basis.

If you have publisher representation, please ask them to get in touch.

I have searched the Gumshoe Books catalogue and I cannot find this amazing book!

If the book is still in print, please tell us about the book here.

If the book is not in print anymore, we will not be able to help you find it, I am afraid.

Items must be returned within 30 days after receiving your order. Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received, be unread/unused, have any tags still attached, and include all the original packaging.

Please email first to arrange to return a book.
