The beautiful Greek island of Lesvos sees its serenity turn into chaos as the world watches boatloads of refugees flee onto its shores from Turkey. And when Mihalis Volandes—the patriarch of a prominent shipping family, with a plan for shutting down the lucrative refugee trafficking pipeline—is struck down in his own garden with a sword, all eyes turn to Ali Sera, the refugee-turned-local aid worker who is found at the scene, splattered with the victim’s blood.
