The Lying Dead

In the stroke ward of QE Hospital, Barnstaple, a nurse is held at gunpoint as a patient is shot by two masked men. The assailants are gone as quickly as they came, leaving a shellshocked witness and a dying victim.

For DI Jan Talanetire the crime is baffling. There’s no obvious reason why the victim – a respected pillar of the community – was targeted. But as Talantire and her team dig deeper they discover eighteen current patients have a criminal record.

Was this a case of mistaken identity?

With the threat of another attack looming, Talantire must uncover who the real victim is before the shooters have a chance to fix their mistake.
